“ Star Trek: Discovery ” is a new TV series that is set ten years before the events of the original Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry. The series is created and written by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. According to Wikipedia, It follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they explore space finding new worlds and civilizations. The series will be on CBS then move to CBS All Access. Season one will contain 13 episodes. The series features Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, Shazad Latif as Lieutenant Tyler and Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham. Jason Isaacs was also in the Harry Potter series as Lucius Malfoy. Other films that he is also known for are  “The Patriot,” “Peter Pan” in 2003 and “Black Hawk Down.” Doug Jones is known for “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Hellboy” and “Hellboy ll” and “Adaptation.” Actress Sonequa Martin-Green was on The Walking Dead as Sasha Williams. On Saturday April 29 Cal State Fullerton hosted its  3rd annual Titan Con.  Their facebook page states “ Titan Con is a non-profit Student Pop-Culture Convention hosted by the students of Cal State Fullerton -- showcasing pop culture, clubs, artists, & entrepreneurs”. It was held at the student union but was open to the public. There were of Characters from the Star Wars franchise and other fandoms walking around. New Doctor Who Spin-off Series "Class"

A new series released from the BBC on April 15. The new show is an eight-episode spin-off of Doctor Who. The series is set in contemporary London, England. It is also a co-production of BBC Wales and BBC America. The series is written and directed by Patrick Ness. There have been other spin-offs such as Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Based on the trailer, the Twelfth Doctor will make an appearance. So far there have been two episodes aired. The series features Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah. Doctor Who new companion Pearl Mackie playing Bill Potts

After almost a year off the air, and after waiting 8 months since the announcement, on April 15 whovians finally got to meet Pearl Mackie, the new Doctor Who companion.Steven Moffat the show’s writer and producer at the BBC was excited by her fresh face. She has so far starred in the first two episodes in series 10. Pearl Mackie admits that she has never seen the series. Mackie was born when Doctor Who was not airing which then began when she was 16 years old.   It was Mackie's lack of knowledge in the Doctor Who franchise that partially helped get her cast in the role of Bill. Casting director Andy Pryor states in his interview with Radio Times, “ she arrived fully formed, with a strong personality and a strong sense of herself. A great deal of humour too, which is something we were looking for in this case.”   Mackie’s character is the first openly gay companion in Doctor Who. New Sci-fi Movies coming out part 2

As the summer heats up, no need to fret: just head indoors and cool off with some great new movies. The next batch of blockbuster movie offerings include “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, “War for the Planet of the Apes”, “Blade Runner 2049”, “Thor: Ragnarok”, and “Justice League”. “ Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets ” is about  “a dark force threatens Alpha, a vast metropolis and home to species from a thousand planets. Special Operatives Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.” The movie stars Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, and Clive Owen. New Sci-Fi Movies coming soon Part 1

There are some exciting new science fiction movies coming to a theater near you in the coming months. IMDb offers sci fi fans a little view of what is coming soon. The first batch of movies are; The Circle, Alien: Covenant, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Spider-Man Homecoming. In the movie The Circle “a woman who lands a dream job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, only to uncover a nefarious agenda that will affect the lives of her friends, family and that of humanity.” The movie comes out April 27, and starres Emma Watson, Tom Hanks and John Boyega. Alien: Covenant is about “the crew of colony ship Covenant who are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is a paradise. When they discover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.” The movie stars Katherine Waterson, James Franco and Michael Fassbender. New teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The new teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from George Lucas production house Lucas Films dropped on April 14. This will be the eighth Star Wars movie  from Lucas Films.  The opening moment shows Rey gasping for breath.  From that moment the trailers that actress Daisy Ridley returns as a Jedi in training. Actor Mark Hamill returns as Luke Skywalker to train Rey in the Jedi ways. During the trailer, in reply to Luke’s question “what do you see?” Rey says three words “light, darkness, balance.” From the Observer’s teaser analysis, “‘ Darkness ’ Rey continues, over a shot of the smashed, smoking remains of Darth Vader’s helmet.” The trailer gives a little view into Rey’s training, there is a far away view of someone wielding a lightsaber. As dramatic music from John Williams plays, the viewer hears the voice of Luke Skywalker saying ”breathe, just breathe” and in another part of the trailer he says “I only know one truth, it’s time for the Jedi to end.” In a different clip the teas
