At 7:01 pm LA Times Reports: Hollywood Contract Talks Stall
Writers all over America and the major TV and Movie studios may have reached a place where they can longer negotiate, setting the stage for a possible walkout that could severely disrupt the film and TV industry. Members of the Writers Guild of America voted overwhelmingly Monday night to give their leader's authority to call a strike after their contract expires May 1 at 12:01 am Tuesday. Negotiations went on Monday but both sides have not yet reached a deal. They have been struggling with multiple issues, such as proposed cuts to the union's health plan and money for shows streamed online. Writers previously walked off the job in 2007-2008 for 100 days.
